We knew the sheep had been served as they all have yellow bums from the Yellow crayon on the rams harness. We didnt stand and watch.
The harness is made from a similar material to a halter for a horse. Both Larry and Kracken both stood still and allowed Rob to fit the Harness and there are no signs that the harness hurt or distressed the Rams or the ewes. The harness with differing crayons just allows us to know when the ewe went to ram so we can prepare their lambing parlour for their welfare.
Today we changed the harness to a red crayon. This is for the sheeps second cycle so if the rams didnt make the ewes pregnant they will get a second chance. Hopefully we wont see any red bums. Not disaterous if we do but means they will lamb later.
