yesterday was the first day of making sheeps cheese. This is the first batch in a salt brine. It was a slow start the pasteuriser decided on day one that one of its censors didnt want to work. Our support team at K Dunmore refridgeration to the rescue they where here with in the hour as courtess and efficeient as ever they got us back up and running in no time. Other then a slow start it went well.

Today well what a day in the life of sheep farmers.

It started with the milking for an hour.

later In the pouring rain we collected our commercial flock from their winter keep. Collected our home grown bacon from the butcher um very tasty.

After lunch  tasting session of new bacon we collected out next lot of milking sheep from the field still raining still wet.

As it was raining we took the sheep back to barn and have sponged 25 of our ladies ready for the ram in 2 weeks time. Yes the valentines love affair we mentioned earlier in the year. These will lamb in July 2024 to take over from the first milking ladies. Giving the first ladies 6 months rest.

The second milking ladies got a full MOT as we sponged them.

Then of course the normal work bringing in the lambs and ewes of the first ladies so lambs stay in the shed at night and ewes go out. All I can say is thank god for lollipop lady coats! might not be elegant and none breathable. But very waterproof!

When you walk in a 7 acre field like above and cant see more then 2ft looking for sheep in the pouring rain and fog and wet! Of course the sheep are the last place you look! All sorted now

In between all that managed to make a home made meat and potato pie!  Time to dry out before its ready!
