Day one of Milking Sheep

We are here at last!

The ewes tucking into breakfast.

12 sheep waiting to be milked this morning.

For the first attempt it went very well. Touch wood for more. The main one was getting the sheep used to where they should be.  Looking after the sheep as usual and caring for their welfare pays off. I would like to say a big Thankyou to our ladies with their mixed breeds they gave us a very good yield of milk this am. Please may it continue.

The sheep and lambs were seperated for the first time last night. The lambs didnt seem at all bothered. they were running and playing together party without mum! I guess the nearest comparision is a mum leaving her kids at the school gate for the first time.

The sheep and lambs have been reunited after mums had been feed and milked and now are in the field for the day together.  Ready for day 2 tomorrow.

A successful start may it continue. Cheese making starts on wednesday!
